Well here's some videos to humor everyone. I'll try to put an events page together sometime soon. Maybe tomorrow if it rains a lot.
Videos are now resized.
Here's a clip of the first race between Mark's Black GS and Darcy's Red RSR. This was both their first time racing and Mark wasn't quite paying attention so don't take this as an accurate comparison.
Video 1
Here's me trying the KLZE against a new 2005 Mustang
Video 2
It's getting pretty dark here and it's Darcy and Mark going head to head again.
Video 3
Here's me against a pretty quick ZX2. As you can see, I've gotta work on my reaction times. This guys reaction time was 0.013 seconds. Oh well, I'm new to this.
Video 4
Here's Mark and Darcy again...
Video 5
That some of what I have. Thanks to my future Bro-in-Law -> Simon and Rick for filming this from the stands. Who else got videos?

I also threw some vids that Rick was nice enough to take throughout the night onto my site. Too bad the camera doesn't zoom any farther, although he did have it zoomed in all the way I think.
All my videos are here

hehewyldside wrote:Okay, cool. My back tires are not in the greatest shape, so I hope they don't ding me on that. That would suck.
The video of the van and Ricks leg were pretty good...
Darcy, I don't know if that was all, but if you have videos of the other two guys I went against, I wouldn't mind an email of them.
It was probably the most fun that I've had on the strip at Race-City.... ever. The cars I was lined up against, were what made it fun. I wouldn't say the Swift was completely gutted... probably lost 50-60lbs with spare tire and foam seats being the biggest. Still had my rare power window option and everything in the front, sound proofing, and some pieces in the back. The problem is they are pretty much tin cans to begin with... Last guy who took everything out, including his dash, tar, carpet, side panels, even roof material, only saved 115-120lbs. Not quite worth it.
Keep in mind that if you do the ol' Road and Track method of 1/4mile times, which calculates for pressure/temp/humidity/elevation... all of these cars would be close to a second faster at sea level by actually those calculations. At least here in Calgary, we are all on the same playing field.
If you guys do want some dyno time, try to let me know as far in advance as possible for the idea of a group thing... just so I have time to try to work something out with Reg.
Maybe even just some different tires on the BP would get it into the 16s Darcy, I still think a better muffler would help uncork things slightly..you don't need to go too big if you change the exhaust pipe size. It was kind of cool to see how some of the different motors that guys put into MX3s compared at the track.
Overall... good night. Or at least, I had fun anyway.

I agree. It was a ton of fun.
Kyle, what video are you looking for? I've got 1 or 2 others with you racing.

Hey Kyle, I got three more vids up, one of Mark and I, one of James, and another of you and that 87 Prelude.
I'm not sure what happened to you that one run... your car was way back there and I asked the ringmaster to line us up, but looked like you weren't ready
Next time!
Took a simple calculation of my 17.218s time @ 3609' above sea level and that gives me 16.49s. (link)
Mark's 18.043s would give 17.32s and James' 16.2 would give 15.47s
I was contemplating putting my crappy rubbered 15" rims on, but I ran out of time. they are 205/55/15 (about 3% smaller than my 185/65/14s) but they might be heavier, so the tradeoff might be negligible. That and if I hit rain on my way home I woulda been in the ditch
Either way, i'm not terribly disappointed. It was a fun night and gives me lots more ideas.

I was hoping for the SIR vid as well as my wife drives one.
I'll PM you my gmail addy James and if you have it, you can just email it my way.
I don't know what happened on that run we tried to line up Darcy... I kept turning my car off instead of letting it idle and I might have been fidgeting with my helmet and the guy thought I wasn't ready? I dunno. Ah well... it should have been very close in the top end if we had gotten to race. I think that ended up being my run against that SIR actually, so in that case I don't mind... and I enjoyed racing the Honda.

I've sent you the only other video I have of you, Kyle. I would have like to get some better races in. Too bad we didn't get a video of Darcy and I racing. That was pretty good.
I at least know what things I need to improve on for next time we do this. new O2 sensors, new clutch, new tires, and probably some new Struts. I had pretty bad wheel hop and I couldn't stop pealing out. On one race I even lost 1 second of valuable traction when shifting into second gear. I'll definitly work on my reaction time for next time too.

Tell me about that too.
I'm gonna have fricken nightmares tonight about my car.
Some retarded lady kinda mixed up a yield sign with a merge sign and threw me 2" from a guard rail. My tires are chewed up from hitting the curb and now my alignment is probably off. wish I woulda hit her. I woulda got a new bumper (really needed one too) and then she would have actually known what she did. She continued down the road like nothing even happened!! argh!

s--- Man! You aren't having any luck. I hate stupid drivers like that. It makes you wonder how they get through everyday of their lives without killing themselves.

GJ putting the video's up guys they turned out decent except for not being able to zoom on the traps, sorry about the one with my leg I didn't know the camera was on!
That was a lot of fun, I like close races and there was quite a few. I loved watching the swift, everyone started cheering for him at the end of the night betting he would win against some civic - which he did
we gotta do that again sometime...

It was awesome watching Kyle's swift little Suzuki Swift beat everyone. I hope that next time I can get some better times. We'll see.
