that's what i was thinking at first, but then i started to think otherwise. for me to know that there is a better version out there that i could have gotten...it would drive me crazy. have you started getting any of the things you need? all i have left is the actual things needed for the swap...engine, tranny, flywheel, clutch, and intercooler. i've got all the accessories...
apex afc, apex avc-r, blow-off valve, and
rx-7tt fuel pump. when are you going to do this swap? keep me posted.

i was just wondering if the protege 90-94 DOHC tranny will fit in my 95 DOHC mx-3? if so that would make the swap so much easier. i need to know definately if it will.
jerome

yes the protege lx/escort gt tranny will fit. it's the recommended tranny. you'll also need the drive shafts and flywheel for that tranny

from what i know..i'd say no. but you might want to post this ? on the group forum. but i think this isn't necessary. just the driveshafts.

yeah, i educated myself on that one. why have you gone through so many tranny's? do you have a motor swap? what mods?

yes you will need the axles from the protege. but if you get it from corksport derrick said he could get them for me. basically you can get everything you need for the swap from them. you just have to call and ask for derrick and ask questions..

i think that the axels....driveshafts might be the same because when i talked to derrick, all he said was that i need the tranny, flywheel, and driveshafts.

mmmm...seems to be a little confusion here. Does anybody can check that with somebody you really did the swap? :)

man i sure wish that corksport would get there story straight. thats exactly what he told me and i asked him like 9 times just to make sure. i have the 95 mx-3 DOHC but i really doubt that that has anything to do with it. i really want this swap to go through but at the same time i need to know what i need so i can judge what i need to get.
oh yeah and kind of on a positive note we had a hail storm this past friday and my car got some hail damage. well dont flame me for this but im not worried about the hail dents so this thursday ill be getting $$$ from the insurance that will be going towards the engine swap and i cant wait.

jerome

What type of engine does the Mazda 626 have and how much are they.

Since the only big difference between the BPT and BPD is the turbo size and intercooler size, I think I'll go for the GTX engine (1000$ cheaper) and eventually get a turbo upgrade.
Any thoughts on that?

that's not the only difference. the gt-r, unlike the gt-x, is a race bred motor. the only reason it's on the market is because they had to make a certain number to race it. some of the things the gt-r has is a web stiffened block(stronger),sodium cooled exhaust valves, stronger internals...and some other stuff but i can't remember.
don't get me wrong, the gt-x is a very capable motor, but the gt-r was "made" to race. it can hold a bit more power with modification.
oh yeah, i e-mailed derrick and he said the the axels are the same as the drive shafts. he also has a lightweight flywheel that will fit this application along with a clutch.
