how do you confrim if all the lights on the dash are hooked up to the ecu? on the right side you have oil,seatbelt, etc. on the left side i have no lights that come on at all

Ok, so your idle should be at 700 then adjust your timing. Not sure where the timing would sit at 1000 rpm maybe someone can check their car if they have a moment. The disty from the MX6 is the same as the one listed for the 03 MX3 and that's true up to around 96 on the MX6.

Tons of different ways to wire up a HEI? There's only two ways, in which the 93-4 have two wires on the 3 pin plug wired a certain way, then 95 has those two wires swapped over.

You also don't have to hack the wires, many people have no clue that you can actually remove each wire from it's connector plug by carefully prying off the orange plate in front, then once that's off you have two hook type bits of plastic that hold each wire in. You get some small tweezers and pry those open whilst pulling on the wire and it will come out.

94 is 94. There are no ze de k8 differences, all that matters is the year of your car, which would dictate the year of your wiring loom. I used one of the diagrams by that nd4spd fellow. It's a very clear diagram.

back fire is crazy, its not only doing it with WOT now, its doing it as soon as the car starts.

I always noticed my car sounded like a Subaru when the distributor was misfiring...
Never seemed to backfire, but also never held at "WOT".
Have you pulled a lead while car is idling to see if you have good spark?
You're looking for a steady blue spark... Its that simple.
If you've got good spark then start look'in elsewhere. Could be fuel related.

It never started untill I cleaned the disty. Maybe ill start there. Replace it if it doesnt work then ill go on to the next thing. It used to happen with WOT but now its doing it no matter what

Do you still have a catalytic converter on this car? The bogging down under acceleration and backfiring are symptoms of an exhaust restriction.

There is a difference between backfiring and misfiring. If I understand this post there is backfire and loss of power under load and it is getting worse. My guess is that it is getting worse because the exhaust restriction is getting worse. If the catalytic converter is coming apart inside it can create more exhaust restriction over time.

If this is misfire then ignore me and carry on with disty replacement.

its a back fire. it sounds like someone is shooting a gun from th muffler. like pop pop pow. also just did fuel pressure test and its good.

Just replace the disty or do the HEI mod. If you look at the schematics you'll figure it out I'm sure. You've had so many disty related problems I think the HEI mod is way past due. Cheers

yes i do have a cat on the car. I also did a compression test tonight, fuel pressure test, line test, hold test, FPR test. an they all turned out normal.

is our disties the 1.8 Liters and w/.526" Diameter Rotor Cam? im buying a new one, and everyone keeps asking me for different diameter rotor cams? im not sure what one is the right one

well guys got some good/bad news. Good news is i got a new disty $400 took the problem away, however its the wrong disty, car wont time correctly and takes forever to start, its off by 20 degrees for timing. So return time, this time i will try a disty for a 94 mx-6 2.5l hope this works. Wish me luck
