Definitely have already Jesse, I'll be going with your plug wire idea for example. 
Have you removed your VAF yet? I've got an idea I've been bouncing around for my intake, but I want to have an actual mock-up before I show you, I'll have to wait until after I get my throttle body bored out to make one though.

I'm hoping to find a "low maintenance" addition, similar to thermo-spacers in their simplicity. Dry ice, CO2, and many other options are available, but I'm definitely looking for a "bolt it in and leave it in" type solution. 
It limits the cooling capability for sure, but even 10 or so degrees would be worth the time invested!

My VAF is long gone. My K&N is only a few inches from the TB, and has a very smooth transition. I think it contributes to my torque.
I am quite intrigued about you IM idea. I miss being excited, and innovative I think it's coming back, though, and I'll have some interesting new things in my worklog.
