What terrible luck you've had, glad to see you haven't given up on the MX though.

No, I love this thing too much. I'm looking into custom plates but it appears the guy I bought my first one off of stole my idea ZOOMX-3
I think I'll go with LUVCRVS cause it means so many things.

I'm looking into buying a Escort GT right now. I found one with a bad tranny... and wouldn't you know it. I have an old F-series lying about.

SO, my DD 94 Ford Escort LX finally sh-t the bed on me the other day. Sunday night to be exact. I woke up Monday and looked it over, and it appears to either be a cracked head or it dropped a valve seat. Sounds like sh-t but it runs.

Monday at noon, I decided I would stop building the BP and actually do something with it. So I put the head together, strapped it to the block and got it all ready for an emergency swap. Pulled the B6 I had been using as a place holder (which smoked like a chimney) swapped a few parts (like the motor mounts) and threw the BP back in.

Less than 36 hours to put a BP together and swap it into the car...

Once she warms up she dies at stoplights, but I think that's a vacuum leak. I'll track it down later. There is also a CEL being thrown that I need to look into. **Edit** Guess the SOHC ECU wasn't helping things.

All good so far. The engine drives well. Seems to be missing a bit on the low end. She doesn't even start picking up until 3k rpms. Then the VTEC kicks in yo! I've only got 250 miles on her so far, after the weekend I'll torque all the bolts again. I took her over the mountain yesterday on my way home, and lost the oil pan plug. I think I forgot something simple. Pulled off and had a friend bring me the plug off the B6 and grabbed a gallon of oil from the store. The underside and passenger/rear are doused in really clean oil. I feel sorry for the guy behind me...
Few stumbles but it looks like things are going good.
Starter solenoid wire won't stay connected.
Need an exhaust manifold shroud. And new bolts. Ω
Ordered all 3 of the temp sensors and thermostat from rockauto, for less than o'riellys was selling the one fan sensor. Ω
Needs a new exhaust. Thinking 2.25" for a future 'project' I have in mind.
Need paintjob. I'm thinking about the "Dip your car" stuff. Did a test on the spoiler last night. Check it out today.
Window tint.
Need a headliner.
Soundproofing.
Looking at the halo/projector headlights, might as well do altezzas in the back. In black.

I finally got a speedo cable. I snagged one off of a 92 Protege at the picknpull up north. So now I'll get to see how slowly I'm really going. I got a GS rear crossmember while I was there. It got a paintjob since I didn't want to leave it plain. Got my valve cover semi finished. I only put it on because I was leaking oil from under the Ford one. Replaced the front pads with ceramics. Built a new spare tire cover out of the plastic one in the Escort. I did 2 layers and put bed liner on it. Did a styrofoam insert to keep the squeaking to a minimum.

Picture of the lost oil drain plug. It looked so bad. I thought I'd thrown a rod.

New crossmember It's a metallic high temp red. I had intended to do the engine in Metallic Red/Flat Black.

I'm working on getting red 8 or 8.5mm spark plug wires, and I've got a buddy who does sheet metal professionally that is going to fab up a spark plug cover. I'll do that in black to even out the abundance of red under the hood.

I haven't driven her with a B6 in it since my first swap in 2009. I might have if the B6 ran better.
I found a guy with a BP for $300 not too far from me. I'm going to grab that, sell off the B6, rebuild the second BP bottom end and mix/match parts...

So I got my euro mini sides and rear muds. The day after the meet. Got them all painted and found bolts/etc. They look pretty nice.
Image
I got new rims/tires the other day and don't have a pic yet.
Got an OBX rear strut bar for $45, no pix or install yet.
Dealing with getting the entire front end alignment redone. I ordered swaybar end links, ball joints and outer tie rod ends. The ball joints aren't greased, don't have a grease fitting installed, have a zerk in the hardware baggy, but no hole to install the zerk into... Dafuq? The tie rod ends (same manufacturer) need grease too, but have the hole drilled for the included zerk fitting. Sway bar end links are on order locally. Then it's off to get the alignment done...
