CF over ABS isn't a great gain...not notworthy atleast...it's just looks...

A CF Hood, Fenders, Hatch, Doors and Full bodykit(replacing the front and rear covers) would impress me....and reduce the car's weight by like 400lbs

well most of those things can be easily fiberglassed but cf? eeee I dunno.. not everyone can do that. I was thinking on fiberglass fenders BUT after removing one and seeing it weighs nothing.. theres no point. It probably weighs less than a lb or about a lb, the wind knocked it out of my hand.. (el paso tx wind is dumb) The doors would be aswesome! but what really is heavy there? its the inner door frame so yeah.. the hatch i would love to fiberglass but its HARD.. imagine cf?

fiberglassing and Cfing in a home-build situation is difficult without:
A) proper materials and setup(space, temp, humidity)
B) skillzzzzz.......

My first crack's @ fiberglassing was a bumper repair on my original bumper... After that failed attempt because I used poly-urathane resin and polyester hardener..which made a HUGEEEEE STICKY MESS...I stuck to metal...

I then worked on some other stuff like the upper rad support...which came out alright but i didn't have the money to finish it...and it got chucked in the spring clean..

Now working on my friends 81' Rx-7 and putting a scoop in the hood i've become much more aware of the requirements of handling the material..

We lined it up, marked it out, drilled like 30 holes, riveted, fiberglassed, bondo'd, spot puttied and primered it... AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS FACTORY....

----Warning Life Lesson----

Skill comes with practice....practice costs money = cheaper to buy it or leave it alone...Unless you want to learn...

Well I'm going up to Ohio next week to pick up the next batch of CF WRAPPED items. Apparently alot of people thought I was having these parts MADE out of CF. The only part that was actually made was the GS lip everything else is wrapped in real Carbon Fiber.

Now that I have that out of the way, to those who think that it is pointless, I disagree. Why do we spend money on the appearance of our cars anyways? I like the look of Carbon Fiber with it's woven appearance and 3-d look of depth. I like the fact that it looks like "shiny cloth". I'm not worried about "weight". If I was I would take OFF most of the parts that I'm having wrapped. If I really wanted to save weight and make it a race car, I would have doors and the hatch MADE out of carbon fiber and plexiglass and I would gut the interior (which I have done before). But I would rather have a car that I can enjoy as a daily driver (and still be relatively fast).

alright I guess I'm done now... :D

Here are the parts that I will pick up next week:

GS spoiler
glovebox w/ handle
fuse cover
armrest cover (redone since I cracked the first one)
speedo cluster surround (the part on the outside of the cluster with the hazrd and cruise control switches)
another ashtray
another set of door sills
passenger side door handle (with power window switch)

Parts already done that I've had for a while:

outside mirror covers
wiper cowl
gas lid
door sills
interior door handles (around the lock and handle)
armrest cover
ashtray
GS lip

carbon fiber hood (bought off a group buy)
speedo cluster bezel (bought off ebay)
momo steering wheel with fake carbon fiber inserts
hayame pedal covers (bought off ebay - 4x4 twill instead of 2x2)

I have also decided to have my hood re-cleared professionally and pay the $150... I figure I might as well get it done right... it's the biggest shiny part on my car :D

The ricer cavalier. I cant find pics of it but did did everything out of fiberglass and molded the rear skyline lights put roof scoop and hood scoop.. completely riced out to the max! LOL .. I need pics :/ fiberglassing takes patience and a good pair of gloves lol. I can now make fiberglass fenders and make some nice copies of sideskirts and hood/roof scoops. Oh and the side vents thingy. Not for my mx3 tho. Dont wanna make it more rice than what it already is.

I can say this, the CF accents on Marks car looks really good. Its already fast, and CF weighs virtually nothing, I say go for it!

If you like the CF wrapped stuff, check out my tutorial. It breaks it down so that almost anyone can wrap their stuff in CF.

Your car looks good, hope to see even more experimental one off parts!!

I read your tutorial and it looks like something anybody could do with a little trial and error! I wish I had seen it sooner and I probably would not have paid to have this stuff done... and experimented on my own...
