well i just tried it. the megasquirt isnt getting a rpm signal. dont know if its internal to the MS or if its a problem with the way i have it connected to the disty.

any info would be appreciated.

just wanna update that i got it to work, i had to put a 1k ohm resistor between pin 28 and 24 to increase the voltage of the signal to the megasquirt, easy fix.

SOHC has a 3 wire dizzy

trigger
12 volt
neg

no home

if youwant to run wasted spark on a SOHC your best option honestly is to grab a DOHC waterpump head and dizzy

now your 8:1 and DOHC perfect for turboing :)

my name is Jacob Russell i build these megasquirts premodded for the BP engine the auction on ebay under torquetuning are my auctions!

if you have any questions please ask i know all the trigger settings on how to setup for Dizzy or wasted spark!

Wasted spark must be done with a 4 wire dizzy!

I also have all the wiring info for BP engines.

Bochek wrote:also, what is the home signal,

i think i under stand the trigger signal, it tels the ecu when to fire the coil, right, its sorta like your hall effect sensor, or VR sensor or w/e its called.

if all this is true, then the home signal must advance the disty's timing?

im sure this cant be that complicated.

Bochek
hall opto

home is used to give finer timing.

on wasted spark its used to tell when to restart counting ignition events

Bochek wrote:my chiltons manual says that all n/a b6 and bp engines are traditional electronic ignitions (vaccume and centrifugal advance)

if that is true then what are the 4 wires going into the top of the disty?

Bochek
it is incorrect it is electronic

Bochek wrote:ok well something must advance the disty's timing correct, is it mechanical? it it was you think you would see a vaccuume line going to the disty.
MegaSquirt uses RPM and vacume to calculate where timing should be on the map

Bochek wrote:well its a starting point, as soon as i get my hands on a graphing volt meter or scope il be able to be more sure about it, thanks for your help so far.

if anyone else knows anything about the b6 sohc disty, SPEAK UP PLEASE!

Bochek
take dizzy apart tell me how many inner and outer "holes" are in the wheel should me 4-2 or 4-1
