i blew my gtx motor so everything was already set up and as i was preparing to get the motor rebuilt with wiseco pistons a friend told me about a friend that needed moneyand said he had a gtr. well i had him send some pics and was still skeptical about it as you can imagine and then when it got here everything matched up. bpc8 on the head and ihi vj23 turbo. def a gtr and i popped open the top and the cams had a nice tan color to it. so i knew it had been maintained well. then i drained the oil and hoped for the best and again was happy to not see a single piece of metal or metal flakes. good sign. put it in and dynoed at 202whp and then put the fmic and gained close to 20whp as i had the eclipse smic. it worked but barely. it got me by. oh and the cost of the motor was 1300 plus 300 shipping from maine. so 1600 total out the door and i had a gtr.

i was very lucky as id never wait to find a gtr. it just kind of fell in my lap. lol.

This post is looking pretty impressive so far, where are the other guys like Franko, Cjthor, Ma-ZE etc, let's get some more cars listed. It seems the number of turbo MX3s is getting larger each day. :)

Are any of your guys running above 15psi besides Ma-Ze?

well i am at 13 but the only reason we didnt go to 17-18 psi is cause my ebc is jacked up. i think a wire got fried when a wire melted in the dash that im know fixing or i am when i get back but were gonna try to fix it and then im hoping to be at 270-280 whp. stupid wire it wouldnt let me go above 13 psi. when i get home ill def fix it and then replace the clutch and def get a nice dyno for you and hopefully i can then upload it so you all can see it.

man yall are making me miss my baby even more lol. but ill be home this wed from iraq for 2 weeks r & r so im gonna drive the hell out of it.

Now, here's the real question.. how much did these setups cost you guys? BabyblueMX3, i'm pretty sure i remember seeing somewhere that your setup is still less than $10g CDN, (which is awesome, considering the work!) but I'm more interested to know how much the "junkyard" setups cost. I plan on boosting the DOHC 4cyl, but I'm sure I'm not going to buy a *new* turbo if I don't have to. :D

hmm with everything i bought (apexi safc2 plx m300 2 b6ts 2 turbos and all the fluids and what not ) I think it came to around 5k (give or take 800$)

In terms of money spent on the turbo setup, I would say I probably have spent around $4000US including labour costs.

Please note this includes the ACT clutch, gauges, MSD ignition, exhaust work etc since I consider these required for a proper working turbo setup.

i think on all my stuff (aside from the clutch, and turbo timer) i only spent like $600-700 US
