yes it is normal that the fuel pump is running.. it will turn on when the key is turned on.. its that way in most cars as far as i know.. and what good are diagnostic codes if you can't get the codes? i thought you said you couldnt' get them?

you can have a car with 100k or a car with 500k
what matters is how well it was taken care of.
I replaced my disty, cap, rotor, plugs, wires n ignition coil 2 summers ago when my disty went.
i was quoted $800 from one shop and another shop said $100 if i supplied the disty, disty only costed me $150-200...
i dont think you bought a lemon whatever the problem is it seems to be in your electrical, your getting no spark. probably something really simple, just have to trail n error it.
