i was just reading, apparently you can mate 2 identical 2-rotor engines with a plate (custom, but apparently there are kits) to make a 4-rotor engine...quick specs i read are 600hp N/A
Some info on that car seems to be in this thread

How many rotors do RX-7s have?
Why cant a 2 Rotor fit in the MX3? I thought Rotary engines were small as hell?

Also there's the 3-rotor twin turbo out of a Mazda Cosmos, those ahve been swapped into Rx-7's as well

All is possible with money, I've seen a rotary into an Civic and a 323 wagon, so it is possible.

the thing sounds like a v-8!
One can. You just need to be good/have a CNC and are good at customizing

that's pretty cool, a 4 rotor engine isn't something you see every day. though i would have to disagree about it sounding like a "V8", i think someone needs his ears checked

. that or listen to what a my RX-7 with a real V8 sounds like:

you should read a little more. yes, 4 housings are easily put together, but you will need a custom escentric (sp?) shaft for the aplication. these are nearly impossible to come by and the machine work to make one would be absolutelyinsane. and if you did come across one... you should expect to pay an arm, leg, and testicle.

99.9% of RX-7's have 2 rotors, these engines include the 12A, 13B, and 13B-rew. THere is a 3 rotor production rotary engine as well, but you aren't likely to find one in an RX-7 unless it's a swap. If you really wanted to change your MX-3 over to RWD and have a 140 N/A hp rotary engine you could. or you could put a turbo on it and have a bunch of horsepower, but chances are without the proper tuning it's going to puke an apex seal in only a matter of time. just check out a rotary forum and ask how many engines these guys have rebuilt. i really don't want to start s---, that guys setup is incredible, but there are much cheaper and realiable options for adding to an RX-7 than dumping in a 4 rotor.
