Help, on page 8, I read that there was a Mazda 323 with a V6 using a 3.86 final drive, but that final drive is not listed on page 1 as an available swap for the G series. If that is correct please let me know from what transmission (car/year/model) do I get it. I also read on page 1 of a 3.619 final drive, I think it's to low but also would like to know from what transmission (car/year/model) do I get it. I'm currently rebuilding my MX-3 turbo engine, and was looking for some alternatives, I'm using the 4.10 diff., but 1st and 2nd are still to short.

That would be me using the 3.86 final drive..

First off what motor are running and what g series transmission? I ask because there are different ring gear thicknesses between a 4 cylinder and V6 transmission

Hi, thanks for the reply, I have an MX-3 with the KL-DE engine, turbo, on the transmission I'm using the internals of the FS, 4.10 welded differential, PAR's gears on 3rd and 4th, and the thick (V6) driveshafts, but I'm using 13 inch rims (had to grind the calipers).
I really would like to have a lower final drive so that I could have longer 1st and 2nd.

You'll have the thicker ring gear then.. you'll need to run the counter shafts and ring gear from a 98+ ford escort with a 2.0l split port motor... it's important the valve cover on the motor has split port 2000 on it..

Thanks for the info., do you have a set of gears and shaft that you could sell me. I'm in Puerto Rico in zip code 00729, so that you could figure shipping costs. The 3.86 final drive could really help my set up, please send me an email: titomx3@yahoo.com

Found one here in Puerto Rico, but they're asking $250., and I think it's too much, I'm a serious guy and would like to get a 3.85 final drive, as I've heard, in the US there are cheap junkers where you can get these. I need only the shafts and final drive, not the tranny shell. I ask for help, for you MX3 guys, I believe I'm the faster ever, I'm about to finish the engine rebuilt, and hope to run faster than 10.7, help. titomx3@yahoo.com

Tito, why not buy it for $250. Swap the final drive with yours and then sell the gearbox that isn't needed. Even if you lose $100 after selling, still gets you what you want for cheaper.

Or a G series core (guts) pack (forgot tge exact term for that gear set) in an F series will be the same as I understand it if you have to go that route.

The Manual Trans Mazdaspeed overhaul manual I have in PDF says 2001-2003 Mazda 626 has the G25M-R you are looking for in addition it has the following charted info:
Protege /Protege5 has the F25M-R/G15M-R as procedures are same. But I have not scoured the entire file but its got 2 seperate exploded views for both major variants.
