1. MX engine harness works with BP but you have to run VICS wires.
2. You can use SOHC clutch as long as you use the MX transmission and flywheel.

There are plenty of swap reference guides out there. The BP swap is probably THE EASIEST engine swap to do as long as you have done your homework. How many other engines will bolt RIGHT in, use your STOCK tranny, use your STOCK mounts, use your STOCK Wiring harness (minus two wires) and will have the ECU from the new engine PLUG DIRECTLY in to your STOCK hanress??

Hey, if I had known it wasn't as easy as TyphoonK made it out to be to pull the engine separate from the tranny, I wouldn't have done it. I still wanna lynch him :P

Im interested in doing a BP-ZE swap
unfortunately i have a 93 mx3 GS KLZE swapped, manual tranny
Its all great how all 4cylinder mx3s can do an easy bp swap
but what im looking for is what is needed to swap k-series mx3s to bp-series
From what i understand ill be able to keep my axles as long as i get a g-series tranny.
how much more difficult does this process become from doing a v6 to a 4cyl swap?
My klze swap was very successful and done all kinds of mods but ze is taking its toll after years of abuse, and im very interested in 4cyl swap(BP) for fuel economy and decent power when boosted.
SO MY QUESTION IS: IS IT WORTH IT GOIN FROM GS KLZE TO BP 4CYL? OR IS IT JUST TOO MUCH WORK AND BETTER OFF JUST BUYING A 4CYL MX3?
need more feedback on this as i will keep researching. thank you and I appreciate it

well the bpt is well capable of producing 200+ hp and it gets 37mpg
and i seriously doubt the ze gets 30mpg. average more like 25-26mpg because of mods. but anyways, ive been thinking of just buying a 4cyl mx3 on the side as daily driver, and selling my ze engine to my buddy with a mx as well. he said he will rebuild it. my gs mx will be my project car and evently ill swap my stock 4cyl to a bpt.

Hi guys I read this whole thread and I am trying to figure out cuz most of the talk is bases around manuals.

I have a 92 RS with a automatic tranny will this hook up to the bp engine that everyone is talking about. It is the only thing I couldn't just find a yes or no answer on in this thread.

Yes, the automatic tranny will connect to the BP, but why would you want to?

F-Series
You will need to use the automatic MX3 RS torque convertor, and the Automatic throttle body.
The Automatics use a 4wire sensor, the Manuals use a 3 wire.
The BP has a 60mm throttle body.
The B6 uses a 55mm throttle body.
Best to find the BP throttle body in automatic.

G-Series
Every BP car I've ever gotten has had the auto-tragic trans mounted to it.
If you're still on the hunt for an engine, try to get the automatic... makes everything easier.
The MX3 automatic will probably grenade the first time you hit the gas.

so at a local jy there is this protege ive been eyeballing for some time, it has a complete bpze including wiring harness ecu and all..... if im not mistaken my 94 rs has the same tranny so all i would need is the engine and wiring etc correct? ive just been skimming this thread, i could probably do the swap in a day or so..
