Italian speed limit up to 150 km/h

Post by Andrew_Pakula »

Italian speed limit up to 150 km/h<p>ROME (AP) — The Italian government approved a new driving code today, raising the speed limit on some highways but lowering it in bad weather.<p>Under the new code, the speed limit goes up up to 150 kilometres an hour from 130 km/h on three-lane highways, the government announced after a cabinet meeting.<p>During rainstorms, the speed limit goes down to 110 km/h.<p>The change comes into force next week.

I wish they would change the speed limit on our highways here in canada. It has been proven overseas that a higher speed highway doesnt increase accidents and might even decrease them because anyone going that fast has to be paying attention! On a side note though, our cars would be terrible for high speed driving, at 120km/h were at 4000rpm!

The provincial government has expressing willingness to do it several times in the past, to bump it up to maybe 120km/h.<p>However every time there is talk about the Police cause a big scene and fuss about it and put pressure to stop any change from happening.<p>Speeding is a money making business for the Police here, if the speed limit is increased their profit margins go down and no business likes to see that so they use their influence to stop it from happening.
