Electrical Problems.

Post by VizualXTC »

Ok, I have a very wierd situation. A while back when I'd open the passenger side door the lights would not come on. When I opened the drivers it would. It was the switch, so I fiddled with it and it started working again. It went out again and I was unable to fix it. Now the Drivers side is doing the same thing. The wierd thing is that my light for the ignition still comes on. Isn't that on the same switch as the dome lights? Doesn't the little plunger switch control both? Any help would be great. Thanks

Little green light turns on only when you open drivers door and turns off after a few minutes.

one of my friends does electrical work on cars for a living...he said mazda has serious issues with the electrical part of the ignition. my power windows went out completely a few days ago...when i pushed the buttons NOTHING happened at all. he told me next time it happened to check all the accessories...like the lights, the windshield wipers, etc. these are the indications that the ignition is GOING.

Try cleaning the door latch mechanism. The automatic seatbelts run off a switch in this assembly. I don't know if other stuff does in latter years though.
Check that the switch on the dome light is set to the door position.
After that you can check the switches and diodes w/ a DMM, the wiring schematics are on page z-100 of the online manual.
good luck.
