Check engine warning light...
Hi - I have a 96 4-cyl (manual transmission) Precidia (60,000 km. The check engine warning light trips on every couple months - I've taken to the dealer every time and the code is 170. The last time I had it checked, the light tripped on again the next day. There are no other problems... has anyone else had this problem? The dealer has another MX-3 in today for the same problem, and he said he'd let me konw what they found.<P>And, this may sound strange, but has anyone experienced a "hesitating" accelerator?<P>Thanks for any advice!
Re: Check engine warning light...
I think it might be due to the oxygen sensor. Mine is a little bit rusted and I think it's what make the engine light light up. It mostly happen on the highway when I keep the same speed (when I'm over 100km/h).<P>The light goes off after a couple of seconds.<P>I haven't checked any code yet.<P>Buy the way, would it be a good thing to change my oxygen sensor? Would there be any improvements?

Re: Check engine warning light...
Clarification: my check engine light trips on and stays on (even after I turn off the engine & re-start, it'll come on)until I take it to the dealer to have it re-set...
Re: Check engine warning light...
I'm pretty sure the codes are all two digits, so I don't know what the heck a '170' is. Maybe it's a '17' code. Here's the list of possible codes:<P>02 'NE2' crankshaft position sensor<P>03 'G' camshaft position sensor<P>04 'NE1' camshaft/crankshaft position <BR>sensor<P>05 Knock sensor<P>08 Volume Air Flow sensor (VAF)<P>09 Coolant temperature sensor (CTS)<P>10 Intake air temperature sensor (IAT)<P>12 Throttle position sensor (TPS)<P>14 Barometric pressure sensor<P>15 LHO2S inactivation error<P>16 Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system<P>17 LHO2S inversion error<P>23 RHO2S inactivation error<P>24 RHO2S inversion error<P>25 Fuel pressure regulator control solenoid<P>26 Canister purge solenoid <P>28 EGR vacuum solenoid <P>29 EGR vent solenoid <P>34 Idle air control (IAC) solenoid<P>41 VRIS #1 solenoid <P>46 VRIS #2 solenoid

Re: Check engine warning light...
My check engine light comes on rather frequently as well. Usually on extended highway trips, but sometimes just when im driving arround. And my accelleration seems to hesitate sometimes in 2nd gear (embarrasing when about to eat a civic for breakfast on the way to class) Usually running a mild octane booster or fuel system cleaner takes care of both problems for a while. I know this won't solve your problem, but to reset your check engine light, I just disconnected the negative battery terminal for a while...
