Distributor problem

I have a 92 4cyl MX-3. The distributor has gone and I need to replace it. There seem to be two types? mine has a "X" on the top and a rebuilt is around $600cdn. Can I use either with some mods or do I have to use the "X" type?<BR>Any help would be appreciated :D
