rebuild authentication

Post by david103 »

i'm planning on rebuilding my b6 before i go throwing a turbo on there (since i don't wanna do a swap) and was wondering: if i replace nearly all reciprocating/damaged/etc parts myself, can i take it to the dealership and they just mark the engine rebuilt as long as nothing else is going bad? or do they HAVE to charge me for a rebuild?
thanx
dave

i usually just save the receipts. to some people it really doesnt matter who rebuilt it as long as it runs fine and doesnt make any strange noises. as for dealerships marking an engine rebuilt --ive never heard of such a thing, ive rebuilt engines at my dealership and have never marked or identified an engine as being rebuilt. the customer just saves the receipt and we keep it on file. hope this helps :D

ok, i guess what i meant on the authentication, was whether or not i could reset the odometer. i don't want 3000 dollars in new aftermarket parts labeled as being 180k miles old... its not that old yet but you know...
dave
