Putting power windows in a RS?...

Post by Shades »

What do I need besides the motors and the switch in order to put power windows in an '96 RS (manual windows)? Is it possible to do first of all?

Yes..it is totally possible to put power windows in your rs..all you have to do is get a power window kit, these kits are pretty universal but make sure that you get a kit that is designed for you size of window rail to push the window up and down, then I would grab the stock switches out of a GS to hook these up to because usually the kit comes with poor looking switches or they dont even come with them at all. Then it is a matter of attaching the window module to the window rail that moves you window up and down either by welding it to the metal or riviting to the rail itself, depends on your tool supply, then you just run the wires from the swithes to the module in the drivers door and run power to the batterie and ignition and then just set the window times programing properly so it will stop the window motor when it hits the top and then you have power windows..There is a little more deatil involved but if you get a kit I will help anyone doing this..good luck!
Killermx3

I went to a local junkyard, did all the work myself..took out the motors, switches. etc. from a gs..works great

Ya if you can get all the parts for cheap then that would be the best idea..if not the buy a aftermarket kit that has heavy duty switches and heavy duty window attachments..the whole kit is usually around $200 canadian maybe a little less depending on the company..if you really want I can get you a good name brand and price to..let me know.
Killermx3
