NEW RUBBER
Wow! What a difference:
Yesterday, I scrubbed the crap out of my stock rims yesterday (had old Bridgestone RE-92s peeled off before winter - they were great, and lasted about 35K miles) yesterday. Man, were they messy (the wife let me back in the house on the condition of an IMMEDIATE shower). BTW, that Castrol cleaner really works!
I just had new Bridgestone RE-730s put on (on my stock rims) and had the Blizzaks (on aftermarket 14-inch, cheap steel rims) taken off.
I think that I got a fair price - about $480 USD for all four, mounted & balanced, with tax. I was surprised to find that the small service station across the street was about $120 USD LESS than Tires Plus for the same tires.
The new tires and clean rims took about 4-years off the appearance of my ride. The car is also much more quiet (I think that the Blizzaks are a bit noisy, plus the car sits lower with 'em on, resonating more road / exhaust noise under the floorpan.)
