Wobble @ 75ish+ MPH

Post by benyandthejets »

When I hit around 75 on the highway the car kinda goes from side to side slightly which I correct pretty easily with the steering wheel. Also, at this point the steering wheel feels like it "loose" in the sense that you can turn it in both directions a bit and it feels loose and doesn't seem to affect the wheels. If I move it more then it works fine.

I have the stock 15" wheels with 195/55 tires(had tires for about a month). Stock suspension. I recently had the front axles replaced due to CV boots torn on both sides(and damaged the joint itself).

Any ideas?

Thank you

are your wheels balanced? check to see if maybe some weights fell off.

I would assume so, since they were installed at a local tire shop. But who knows.
What do you mean by weights?

You have to check your tie rods, ball joints. If they're loose you'll have problem that you've described.

Wobble seems better after lowering the psi in my tires.. they were about 5 high in each tire. Perhaps I wasn't getting enough grip?

Tires might be worn from bad alignment and they would wobble at higher speeds.

How many miles on the car? Like I've said check for worn out suspension parts, tie rods, ball joints, shocks.

78k miles. And yeah I'm going to get around to this soon, just hard to do much work without jack stands and a level garage. I've gotta wait until my buddy is back in town.

Wheel bearings are also under suspicion.
