oh wow you have a huge revival on your hands. You may have to get into alchemy just to get the car to where it once was lol

Raise the hood latch a tad to get the hood up more. But you also may have to raise your bumper support to bring the bumper back flush with the hood. If it make you feel better my hood sits a little lower than the fenders too. Just not as bad as yours.

I can definitely help you with the interior stuff. I have 4 sets of rear seats total. I'm swapping the power windows from my SE into the RS, so I won't need the crank window door panels in the RS now. I think the Dash in the SE is in good shape. I prefer the bubble dash.

Aside from replacing your front seats, I have everything else...even chrome door handles.

There is little rubber stop on the core support, supposed to be adjustable. If you raise a bit it will make hood sit even with the fender.

I know what you are talking about, I will look. On the next nice day!

Well... I am not sure... The engine has problems at this time but it only has 79k miles on this engine... If I can get the SOHC in good shape then I will boost that. If it seems iffy after I fix the engine, then I will go after the BP swap!

1st thing is 1st, need to fix it up fully then think later about a swap.

Bought the car like this... :(

I got a lot of work to do here, but with Savins' help the inside will look just fine!

Other then the rust that I need to get fixed and the engine...next time I will buy a perfect car like the ones that have been showing up here... :(

I wanted somthing that I could work on and learn more about cars that was my goal! I think this car is great start. I might have jumped into the deep end, but meh I guess I will have to learn how to swim ;)

Re: Surgeonasst222(Kegan) - 1992 RS - Good News... Got Bette

Post by Surgeonasst222 »

Update time!!!

I got good news from Savin after posting my thread up here and my interior problems... :(

Everything I need he has in a donor car SE that he transplanting in power windows and the V6 into his RS. Thus he has promised me all the interior I need and a back seat, and manual door panels!!! At the cost of coming and picking them up, and helping him wrench in his V6 swap! So he is basically giving me this stuff for free... I can't thank him enough for this he is my hero and will help this rebuild a lot!

So now to the even better news!

I had a buddy of mine over this morning to look at the car and figure out what this angry noise was that was coming from the engine(don't know what problem I am tlaking about look here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=80573). He came over and did the broom stick to the engine to ear trick to figure out if it was top or bottom end. He could hear the noise, but he said it wasn't coming from the engine... It is coming from the power steering pump!!! Sure enough it made since now the oil looking fluid was power steering fluid and not oil. So the 79k SOHC engine is in good shape beside needing some new gaskets and normal tune up stuff.

So going to get a new power steering pump, water pump, timing belt, all other belts, and full tune up kit(spark plugs, wires, ect.). Other then that all I need is the stuff from Savin and get my car to the person that can fix up the rust and repaint it for me. Then I will be doing good!!!

Rather drive on my low mile SOHC then a high mile BP, any day of the week! If all is right here and fix all this up and angry noise is gone then a BP swap will be very very far away...

Thanks,

Kegan

I vote for BP swap! Bps are cheap, even if you run it auto itll be so much of an improvement, both in power and smoothness!

Unless you buying it for me... It sounds like if I want to do it right I need more then just the BP engine. Even thoe that is the min I need and it would work. I also been doing a lot of reading here and that the BP is bolt up even to my ATX, but many people have had there tranny go out after they did the BP swap.

What I am getting at here is simple... I am not here to slam and boost the shiz out of my car. For one putting a new engine in BEFORE getting the interior and exterior of the car in good to exceptable shape is crime in my eyes. I would rather have sharp clean running ride, then a faster beat to shiz one.

So here's the plan, I am going to fix the power steering pump. I am going to replace the water pump, all the belts and do a tune up. See how she is running then, do the interior with the help with Savins'(the hero) leftovers. Do the bolt on exterior things, rear mud guards, euro side skirts, and GS spoiler(all these need to be painted black). Get the rust fixed on the rocker on the driver side. Then save up for a full repaint, and work on getting the rest of the interior things I will need.

I am in love with this car for its look and it's soul, not cuz I can boost the snot out of it.

Thanks,

Kegan

Re: Kegan's - 1992 RS - Parts and sound??? ya bad dirt too ;

Post by Surgeonasst222 »

Well got into the car this weekend on sunday... it was actually nice for a little bit :)

Well the steering wheel and the shifter have this crazy brown dirt... well I really don't know what it is but it is a pain in the a-- to get off. I tired all the cleaners in the house besides acid... i think the acid might have been a good idea. If anyone has any ideas on how to get this stuff off easier let me know please!!! 1st pic is on the seering wheel, 2nd is of the shifter... look at the new deck pic below to see how much better the shifter looks...

Image

Image

I put in my new deck I got from wagZE, i also have some 6.5 speakers to put all around and replace the stocks I have in the car. I didn't get around to that as i ran into a problem as all the sound only comes from the right side of my car. I messed with the balance and fade no luck... when I replace the speakers I will check the wires. :?

Image

I am a noob so I do the easy things 1st  I check all the fuses. I looked inside the car and all those fuses look good, i even have fuses for power windows in lol... But under the hood I found pic below    I was like really as there is 20 fuse in the inside of the car from mazda as a extra just in case thing. I replaced it and then replaced the where i took it from the inside of the car, I forgot to take a pic of what it went to in the fuse box in the car :( and i don't remember as I am typeing it :(

Image

Put on this really easy cone filter bolt on and threw out the box filter :) looks nice :)

Image

also took of that front intake, it wasn't connected to anything even before I took off the box filter  drilled out the rivits and used the bolt that had that plastic peice on and bolted right back on the car using the same hole and looks great! holds the bar as well :)

Image

Also i just need a dam knob for this thing... can somone help me out I really don't want to buy the whole thing for one dam knob...

Image

As for new parts... I bought normal tune up items and that RS rasied spoiler with garnish from king58(don't have yet), a front strut bar from mx3_ryder(have), rear mud guards with hardware from 93-Spec-Edn(have), euro skirts from WhiteFinish great price!(don't have), power steering pump from king58(don't have)

slowly... working on it.... ;)

Thanks,

Kegan
