Hmm weird. I've only had JDM ones, so the config is definitely different. But on those you just twist end of the wiper column towards the front as far as I remember! Haven't drove them in awhile unfortunately :(

Cars with the rear wiper have a different wiper stalk than those without. It has the extra selector thingy for the rear wiper on it as well as well as the front.

Even if you get the correct wiper stalk, you'll still have to wire up the rear wiper to it in order to work. I don't believe all mx-3s came hardwired for the rear.

The rear hatch wiper had a pulse option (I loved that so much to be honest), so OEM there would be some sort of control circuit, but you could easlly just put constant power on it, you just wouldn't get a pulsating mode unless you put in your own controller.

It is extremely unlikely that Mazda would install different wire harnesses just because of this function. Look at the harness connection where the hatch meets the body up by the hinges. I'm sure it will match the RS body and I'd also bet that the wiring esists in the steering column too. I bet if you can find a GS wiper stalk and install it the wiring is all there.

It's really expensive for the manufacturer to make multiple wire harnesses for different models and trim levels so things that are optional are usually present but unused.

Exactly. I know for a fact that the Mx-3 (GS) anyway is pre-wired for A/C, so why not something as simple as a rear wiper?
