Warm up car to operating temp, even go take it for a drive. come home, shut off. jump ten and ground. start car. then adjust timing and idle. when u set the timing, itll play with the idle. then when you have it set perfect and have the disty tightened. pull out the jumper and your done.

ya it definetly changes the idle.... so i'm thinking its working properly. i initially had the wires crossed last night made the changes and wow... its glorious!!!

oh yah totally, and then when u change the idle itll throw the timing out a bit. i see it as a little game. works alot better if u got 2 people. 1 strictly to watch the timing light and 1 to do the rest and always remember, if you gotta change your idle. you need to jump it for it to work properly or itll fight against your timing.

so tomorrow night after work i'm gonna begin running wiring for my addition of a 4 channel amp. i did a bit of math(scary) and with both amps pumping i'll be using roughly 110-130amps of power and my 4 gauge wiring will handle 150amps.
So just to cut costs i'll be using 18 feet of 4awg power wire running at most 780watts/rms between the 2 amps, with a 1 farad cap helping out temporarily until i get my hands on a power cell. my grounds from amps and cap are 2 gauge.

after that i'll be wiring in the external coil and taking a break from wrenching for a month or so just to put away some money and get back the rescue fund i once had.
my love from modding is burning out my body and mind( everyday live does that enough).

i will play with the motor during that time but unless something really needs fixing i will only be reassembling the motor for a fall install. time to work on life for awhile lol.

so i got colins old box setup.....free!!!!!! i'm definetly not using the subfloor as its heavy as hell.

to save time and effort i'm gonna cf vinyl wrap or black suede the box and install. havent decided on a amp rack design yet but its gotta be something that keep my trunk open to utilize space.

decisions decisions.

so had a moment of clarity and now i'm undecided, do i wrap the box or just color match it to the wheels?

its in pretty rough shape, i'm actually going to replace the back of the box as it got wet and swelled. i could use it but i figured do it right once.




i'm also trying to decide on amp placement and my thought is to build 2 floating amp racks.....1 in the picture and the same on the passenger side, on a slight angle so that the amps are facing the back for presentation.

so a lot of the time i work on my car while at work lol, so tomorrow i'm getting paid to install my modded disty cap and external coil, as well as test fit the woofer box.

i'm pretty confident i've got the wiring figured out. everything except the resistor. do i wire it inline on the solid red off the three plug?

I love how snug that box fits in there! My box is a few inches too wide to fit like that, although I'd love to do that. Can you hit me up with dimension of that box? I want to see if theres anyway I can make my box smaller to fit like that, although the only woodwork I've really ever done in life is taking trees down with an axe or chopping wood haha.

i've had to reseal the how thing. it shifted slightly on the backside and caused the screw to pull out a bit.
drilled a few new pilot holes and reassembled the box. just letting the silicone cure for another hour or so then i'll install. i canabalized my old box for the sub and quick connect to make the box a lil cleaner.

it was pretty hackjobbed before i got it to be honest.

I got my Amp on the side like that accept no angle. it looks awesome. i got a little board wrapped in carpet bolted to the side. closer to the hatch. goes across the little indent type thing by your forearm in the amp picture.

any tips on wrapping the box in suede....i've never done it before

im guessing its put on the same way as carpet. light spray of adhesive and staples along the back.

do i staple it once i've applied the fabric... i'd rather pull a motor then rebuild and wrap another box.

yah, like spray the glue or w.e on one side of the box, making sure u got enough to reach to each end. then wrap it around, and leave like 1-2" of fabric hanging off the back, once you got the fabric all glued down, pull on the back stuff a little bit to tighten it more and then staple it. if it was me, id start on the front of the box and work my way to the back. dont pull to tight because the edges might make the fabric look thin/separated.
