turboing BP ? reliablity question dd

i have a mx3 rs with a bp engine from a 91 protege with unknown milage i have done the maintenance i believe
new timing belt
wires
alternator
starter
battery
fuel pump
fuel filter
rebuild transmission well 5th and reverse
slave cylinder
tierod ends and ball joints
shocks
engine internals are completely stock
i have a hole turbo kit i put together with a dsm turbo miata headers fmu bov ect
what im wondering is will the engine hold the boost pressure the stock dsm waste gate is set to this is my daily driver i dont drive much maybe 800 miles a month i change my oil every month since i get free oil
changes at my work the seller said it had 96k i belive i bought the engine on ebay i cant afford to get another engine would you say its safe to turbo a car with an unknown milage? i plan on no boost controler just stock waste gate from
t25 dsm turbo thank you for your help and god bless you!!!

Should be fine as long as everything is in order. Motors dont pop until ~250-300hp range.
Took the bp+t out of the mx and swapped it into a 95 escort wagon. ;)

yea man it should be a great dd as long as u do every thing ok to ur build and dont over boost make sure u do the basics u know like higher octane gas better plugs fuel upgrade ur fmu will be great make sure u do have a good cooling system for the car and turbo as well make sure u do have a good ignition system as well u know proper modifications to ur engine . its not just about throwing a turbo on a car wit out doin proper mods u know !!??

if the miles are unknown the first thing I would do is a compression test. This will tell you a lot. If they are good across the board you will be fine. But if they are not then that is a good sign not to do it yet. Does your car smoke at all?

it comes down to your tuning really, the stock waistgate on the T25 is set to like 6lbs, so it is completely within the realm of the stock internals. You can easily boost a N/A BP to 14-15lbs of boost all day. The things I would recommend is a nice boost sensitive FMU, a FMIC, and 310 or 330 cc injectors. Don't go with the 460's they are too big for a DD and run incredibly rich at idle.

Is your T25 water cooled?

its water cooled i plan on keeping it that way i know some people say its not necessary but the turbo has like 40k on it so i rather keep it water cooled and what would be a good compression in all cylinders? i can check the compression tomorrow....

What ever would be within factory tolerances I want to say like 160 to 190, ideally you want it to be in the middle to high end of that.

You want a water cooled turbo especially on a setup like this one. Saves you from having to buy a turbo timer and waiting for cool down to shut the car off. Also it increases the life of the turbo dramatically. Some will advise against it but getting a colder thermostat will help too and they are cheap. You can buy a 10deg colder one off the shelf. Another thing that would help is stepping down a heat range on your spark plugs, so run one heat range colder than factory recommended.

oh i wasnt palnning on running a thermostat at all my car doesnt have one since it doesnt get cold here i live in texas the coldest we got was 48 this winter so i just didnt ever installed one.... i always let the engine warm up for 5 to 15 min before i go anywhere usally ill leave it running on the drive way or garage while i get dressed lol should i get a thermostat i dont use the heater so i never really thought about it....
