Ya, it was said many years ago that people reported better idle and fuel economy with the 110amp. If one had to replace the alternator, why not upgrade?
Same in the Xterra, why replace the stock 90amp when I can bolt in a 110amp from a Nissan Quest? Or the 125amp from the 2001-01 Quest for the same price as my stock one? I went with neither and currently have a 165amp marine alternator
