how hard is it to register a canadian car in the states? how about registering it in california?

i am interested in the car. im in the middle of building my 3rd klze mx3 but the thought of having a 96 v6 to modify is a dream for any mx3 connoisseur.

btw, i havent had any trouble registering and smogging my last 2 klze mx3's. what kind of inspections would i need to go through for this? can i bring it to the smog guy i have been going to or do i need to bring it to BAR for inspection? is it any different from a regular smog?
