throttle body bolt torque

Post by mitmaks »

I'm trying to find torque #'s for throttle body bolts/nuts, manual is hard to understand. Is it 19-26 inch/lbs?

14-19 ft lbs.... typical of a M12 bolt on the motor. I have no idea if my wrench is high or low, so I just set it to 17 all the time.

that is a LOT, I'm not sure if I want to strip my bolts. I know I kept cranking them and they still seemed like to go but I sure don't want to strip intake studs.

Yes you are retard, retard with limited Moderator rights so I must speak with care. The other torques referenced are in inch lbs so where did you get ft lbs from, did you just miss the other torques? Ft lbs will probably strip the threads yes/no.

I don't see where you're getting inch lbs from.

Sure, other things are specified in inch lbs, but this one is not... so I go with the key at the bottom.

The bolts that hold the manifold down are the same spec, as is the b---- bolt, as is the fuel rail socket cap screws....

Plus, its a freakin TB bolt, not a big end bolt. Don't sweat it, make it "tight enough".

It's not that much... I go with 16ft-lbs = 192in-lbs. And it's not an M12 bolt. It's an M8 ...it uses a 12mm socket which I think is what Ryan meant.

http://www.mx-3.com/manuals/showimg.php ... B2-002.gif Note that on this page the Intake Manifold bolt torque has similar yet oddly different numbers as whats on the page posted here (F2-100) for the intake manifold. But on B2-002 it clearly shows Ft lbs. On F2-100 the Throttle body bolts show the exact same numbers as the intake manifold. Also I believe the rule is if the manual doesn't specifically state the torque unit of measurement with the numbers, you go by the key in the lower right corner. So I believe this is 14 to 18 Ft lbs. That and your could probably turn a bolt to 14 in lbs with your fingers.

Intake manifold bolts are larger and threaded into the steel heads. Throttle body bolts go into the aluminum intake manifold. Could be 14-19ft-lbs, but "tight" is good enough.
