indentifying hose/pipe
indentifying hose/pipe
I was wondering where this pipe/hose is for and why i dont have it.
I did have it on my k8, and its was refered to as ventilation. And almost all ive seen have it( k8, de, ze curved/straight)

No problem - you just have a newer KL without the valve cover vent. I'm not sure what year it started but valve covers stopped having the open ventilation pipe that was run to the intake. It just carried vapor from both the valve covers into the intake pipe in front of the throttle body. You still have PCV which I guess was considered sufficient ventilation.

Re: indentifying hose/pipe
okay, but that brings me to another question.
on my k8 i had a breather filter on the ventilation.
but now the filter is on this (see pic) hose is coming from the IM instead of the heads. But i guess i should just hook it up the the intake again, it is just for air/vacuum or something? or should i hook it up to an oil catch tank? or do i hook the oil catch tank to the pcv(i've seen fuel filters on the hoses)?

Re: indentifying hose/pipe
You may still have a vent on the rear head.

Re: indentifying hose/pipe
It doesn't come from your intake, take a closer look.
There is a pipe coming from the rear valve cover and ends up right in that place.

Um, yeah, thats what I'm saying.
If I'm looking at the picture right, there's many hoses in that red circle.
From rear valve cover, to intake. Doesn't matter where on intake, all it needs is filtered air. You could pop a little filter on there if you need.

the hose i mean is the one next to the throttle body, with an chrome breather filter connected on there.Ryan wrote: If I'm looking at the picture right, there's many hoses in that red circle.
as far as i can tell its connected to the IM.

Re: indentifying hose/pipe
You're wrong. That would just be a huge vacuum leak, because thats unmetered air, post throttle yet. Its definitely the crankcase vent.

Re: indentifying hose/pipe
On that intake there is no possibility to but that size hose in that area.
There is only one from the pcv valve that runs to the back end of the intake and there is a vacuumport, that's it.
Perhaps take a close up picture.

Re: indentifying hose/pipe
yeah u 2 are right , just took a look under the hood.
its not on the manifold, it runs to the back head.
foolish of me hehe
but now that is sorted, whats the best option:
1: attach to intake
2: attach to oil catch tank
3: leave it like this

Re: indentifying hose/pipe
The rear one only sucks in air, it doesn't blow it out.
The front one blows are out.
So just leave it like this and you'll be fine.
btw.. I really like that valve cover without the plug.. I have one at home waiting to be installed

Ok, didn't know that.
and yeah this cover looks better, indeed.
