G series, F Series, Hub spline count. (4-cyl)

Post by Evo_Spec »

ok so i've been searching around and i wanted to know if this information is correct.

all of this info is regarding 4 cyl transmissions and axles and hubs

now the F series clutch discs and the shaft that connects to that are 20 spline?
and the G series clutch discs and shaft are 22 spline?

now this part is kind of asking about both the tranny and cars they come in

the F series input is 24 splines and the hubs on the RS are 24 splines?
the G series input is 26 splines and the hubs on the protege/escorts are 26 splines? (or was the input 28 splines and the hubs 26 splined?)

any help would be very much appreciated

thank you very much to anyone who provides confirmation on this

*edit* I'll sum up the correct information in one post up here rather than having to read through this whole post

Hubs on mx-3 are 26 spline, both GS and RS.

The info from here is for 4-cyl transmissions!

The G-Series tranny has a clutch input shaft of 22 splines and the diff input is 26 spline.
The F-Series tranny has a clutch input shaft of 20 spline and the diff input is 24 spline.

So this means:
On a car with a G-series tranny, the CV shafts will have 26 splines on both the tranny side and hub side and the clutch will have to be 22 spline.
On a car with an F-series tranny, the CV shafts will have to be 24 spline on the tranny side and 26 spline on the hubs and the clutch will have to be 20 spline.

If any of this info is wrong, please let me know so i can edit this.

The G series tranny input has 26 splines for sure. The hubs for the mx-3/protege/escort will stay the same at 26, while a PGT/MX6 are bumped up to 28.

The F series tranny has an input spline count of 24 and the hubs are 26.

if the hubs are both 26 spline on the GS and RS, what would be the point in changing them? (unless i read something wrong and the RS is 24)

You wouldn't have to change them, I was just making a statement that wasn't relevant to the particular topic. Didn't mean to throw people off.

I edited that post to remove it and avoid confusion.
