Switch and Button by Interior Fuse Panel?

Post by MrMazda92 »

I have a small metal switch and black button by my fuse panel, and was wondering if these are necessary, and if so what they accomplish?

Thanks

there not stock so they could be anything. lights, amp, alarm, foglights. i had one wired in the same place i think originally belonged to an alarm system that was removed. see if theres any voltage running threw it with a voltmeter. other then that try your best to trace the wires and see what its plugged into.

I've checked to see if anything changed when either switching it on or off, or pushing/holding the button. Nothing has yet, but I will check it with a multimeter.

There are some weird things about my car, some of them don't make any sense.

Thanks guys, I'm not too worried about it, just curious.

If your car has keyless/alarm that's probably what it is.

No and No...

I asked the previous owner too, he said he never had em on it either.

I'm the 3rd owner so far as I know.

take the panel off your drivers door. if there is an actuator on the locking mechanism thats more then likely from an alarm. mine had an actuator but no fobs or alarm system anymore. im betting your in the same boat.

Sorry Dan, I'm not familiar with that phrase. Must be an old-timer thing 8)

MrMazda92 - definitely a valet switch and something else, but remnants of a previous alarm system for sure.

Alright guys, thanks for the info!

I'm planning to take both my doors apart relatively soon anyways. Getting a new PS door(hopefully I can find a GS one soon), and I want to find out why my DS window motor sucks when it's dry out. I think it has to do with the wiring, as moisture in the air would make it slightly more conductive wouldn't it? One of the dealership guys here had an Mx3 for quite a few years, he said his was screwy until he replaced all the wiring with a higher guage.
