92 RS MAF swap with the GS MAF?

Top is a Mass Air Flow MAF bottom is a Vane Air Flow VAF.
The mafs are newer technology and you will not be able to
swap one in place of a vaf unless you change the ecu and harness
to accomodate. Even then you would have a dohc ecu on a sohc
engine and I'm not sure that will work well.

they're both Vane air flow meters.

there is no component in the GS VAF that measures mass. Its just a conical vane as apposed to a trap door vane.

what will likely be different is the resistance range, and the meters are designed with an ideal idle worked into the range... as in, the resistance change is not linear throught the travel of the vane. Playing with a multimeter will show this.

short answer, no. you can get adapter plates to adapt the square side to a circle though.Ebay.

No they are not both a vane air flow type and its just called a mass air flow sensor
it does not measure "mass" in terms of how you think.

It works like an intake air temp sensor:





The vane air flow just measures from the trap door movement.
