92 Mx-3 1.6L wont start

Post by trife86 »

Hey guys, was driving my 92 all pefectly, Stalled on me in the road i pushed it off to the side. Cranks cranks cranks with no sign of turning over, checked the code it showed #2, Which i think is the distributor? Would it just die on me like that and not restart? Before this car has been very very reliable and never left me stuck like this

In the FAQ, http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=65390" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Code 2 is NE signal, which is indeed inside the distributor.

Thats an odd failure on '92 RS's

The NE signal is the signal that the ECM uses to space the sparks. It should give 6 5 volt pulses for each revolution of the camshaft. It is a hall effect sensor located in the disty.

Just to recap...

Cranks == turns over

Runs == fires up = starts

turns over DOES NOT == starts

As you were...

One other silly questiong, Looking on rockauto to buy a new one. They have listed ones with different diameter rotor cams? Does it matter which one i get? I would like to get the cheapest one they sell which rockauto for that one does not list differant sizes?

BTW well engine turns over perfectly but does not fire up
