All Mx-3's are made in Japan
Engine doesn't have much potential and little-to-no aftermarket. The potential lies in it's bigger brother the 2.5 which comes in 3 plug-and-play varieties: 165hp KLDE (Mx-6/626/Probe), 170hp KLDE (Millenia), 198hp KLZE (Japan Import Only)

Re: just bought a mx-3
I started with VWs, then moved to V8 Muscle cars, and then to Mercedes (not to mention motorcycles, scooters, etc..).
Recently (relatively), I got into Japanese cars, including RX-7s, and now my MX-3 is the most fun car I've driven, including my Dad's Porsches. I wouldn't have believed it just 7 years ago, but it's true.
I'm just starting to consider myself a "tuner", instead of "Hotrodder". It's just a more advanced way of doing the same thing.
Anyway, your car has alot of potential, and if you like being the "underdog", you'll be very satisfied after modifying it.

Re: just bought a mx-3
Grats on the buy. I love them and it has actually been the only car I've owned in the last 15 years believe it or not. I cannot find another car I like as much as this one. Fun, pretty fast, tunable if you want to work at it some and rare. Pretty reliable too IMO, easy to work on and well thought out (Kudos Mazda for actually thinking about a layout before slapping a bunch of metal together and calling it a car).

Re: just bought a mx-3
The front springs are under recall, so call up your local Mazda dealer and see if they'll replace it (or both).

Re: just bought a mx-3
Nope... take it to your Mazda dealer in town, they'll verify your VIN, check the springs, order them, and install them. No charge to you. From the time I brought my car to the dealer to the time it was fixed was less than 48 hours.

Yes, even the 92... it's a recall, so it's valid for life.

Re: just bought a mx-3
yep done it on both of mine
but lowering springs are nice.
well lets just say this car will give you a life experience like never b4.
i stumbled into my first mx3.
traded a pos toyota pickup for it.
the truck died 2 weeks l8r. haha.
but my mazda took me everywhere i wanted to go and more.
it took the abuse i gave it.
and it gave me some of the funnest times ive had on the road.
and yes you will never find a car that you will love as much as ur mx3

Really now? Anything in particular I will need to say to them? If so, please PM me. I can't get on the computer much and would LOVE to get my springs replaced. Thanks a bunch!

Re: just bought a mx-3
just walk in there with your registration or something with your vin on it.
have them run it to see what recalls need done.
and then they can usually have it done in a hour or 2.
but sometimes they will need it over night.
