BPT Help.....

Post by mccabe »

Ok so i am making this post for a buddy of mine which has the BPT,

1. ok first how do you tell the difference GTR and GTX
2. when he ordered his bpt it cam with a full wiring harnesss and stock ecu(numbers faded),sidemount, and lots of other little things like turbo down pipe. is there anything he has to change, say that he has a bunch of wires under th dash part of the hanress when it coems through the wall.
3. which tranny is better to use escort or protege
4.CV he has new one but will they handle the power.

Thanks

1.
The intakes on GTR and GTX motors are different, the GTR has a finned interior
whereas the GTX is just open space.

BP turbo cams are stamped B26 on both GTR and GTX so no difference there

IIRC - the GTX has an IHI VJ11 turbo, the GTR an IHI VJ20

2. Need more information the wiring is different in different mx-3 years
im going to assume its an RS

3. neither, use a KIA sephia 1995-1997 tranny from a kia BP, if not either
escort or protege is fine. Just that later 1994+ mx-3s use electric speedo
and not cable.

4. it should, you will need the appropriate half shaft for the BP
