Engines are basically very simple. If you have fuel and spark at the right time it should run...even if it runs poorly. Get back to basics my son. It'll wind up being something stupid.

just my .02 but it's prolly not a good idea to bypass the knock sensor... also, that would most likely not solve your problem. Like it's been said, if you have fuel, and you have spark, it should start if it's timed right. If timing is off then it could still run but rough.

I remember working on my first MX-3 and redo-ing a timing belt and I forgot to plug in my coolant temp sensor and it ran like crap for a while. Turns out it was something simple. Always start with the easy/simply/obvious, then work your way to complicated. It saves time, and more importantly, MONEY. 8)

it is the knock sensor cuz it will only start if it picks up the sensor. i have had it running a few times. then i turn it off and the cel comes on and wont start. cuz the knock sensor is not working properly

i actually had a broken ground wire on the knock sensor plug once, and it shorted out everything. i just grounded it to the frame and she worked fine.

no i'm still stuck.

But I think I might have a fuel problem. Just put new spark plugs in tried to fire it up a few times and still no go.

So I took the plugs back out 1 by 1 and noticed that the front three were all black and smelt heavily of fuel and the back three were all perfectly clean and only the very faintest of fuel smell if any?

Good luck, try a different knock sensor at least then you can rule it out.

Can you put the K8 one in? looks a b---- to get at though.
