Re: Marco's '95 GS KLZE - Black Beast

Post by marcdh »

Well what a week...

Started off ok, replaced shocks and springs with a set from a uk-mx3 member. The springs are crap, the rears up in the air and the front about the same as my old springs. But the both rear shocks are 500 mile old kybs. One front seems to be oem and the other a tokico. Think I'll get some H&Rs :)

Next was the megasquirt... Got so close, coilpacks all firing, injectors all firing but not at the right times. Once again problems with the RPM input. Starting to really question the MS rpm conditioning circuit. So I'm back to anal probinator k8 chip. T'was a sad moment resoldering in my injectors!

In the hope of ending on a high I installed my latest arrival AWR mounts. I got the mx-3 rear and probe front, partly because the mx-3 front was out of stock and partly because of Markeggs. I was sceptical of the cost/improvement. So got them in just as the sun set (first time it wasn't damn raining this week), went for a test drive. Dear god what a difference! Before my clutch would twist and wind up the engine during slipping it, now these mounts just dont let it! The car just feels much more tight and crisp, totally worth it! My mounts were DIY filled with windscreen 70A duro, these are infinitely better :D

Updates tomorrow with some interior shots, been busy there since last update.

it's amazing what the simple things will do :) glad to hear you went with the probe front... if you're going to get solid motor mounts might as well make em beefy :D

what durometer did you end up getting?

Haha thanks man. I just like photography alot, haven't managed to make money from it though! I think the sides go well with the stock lip, was considering a mazdaspeed one like the banner, but not so sure it'll flow as well.

Thanks dude :) Yea I most certainly am, I might pick some up when I'm in California in a few weeks, just slightly concerned about adjusting for RHD beam. Though a few people have said it should be ok.

yeah I love your pics too  if you are going to get the mazdaspeed front bumper, get the mazdaspeed sides, otherwise it's not going to look right... the oem full length sides go perfect with the stock GS lip IMO  :2thumbsup:

Thanks Markeggs, drive to San Francisco on the 21st of June and I'll take awesome pics of your car ;) And yea man you're right about the mazdaspeed bumper, I think I'm pretty happy with how the car looks now :) Just gotta get those damn dents popped out.

In other news, I changed coolant sensor (green one) from k8 to the one that came with my ZE. The sensors did have different codes:

I'm intrigued as to whether this will have an effect.
