Drove my $500 1994 MX-3 V6 5spd home today!

Post by IMACHU2 »

I think that the MX-3 I just bought is the nicest $500 car ever! :D I am going to use it for parts for the crazy project car I am building. (Project Jay-spec KLZE 323). The MX-3 is pretty rusty, and it burns quite a bit of oil (340000KM) but for my needs it is perfect! I actually drove it home (2 hours) with the Moon roof open, the cruise control on and the A/C pumpin cold air! The car actually drove very well. The brakes are recent and it has a brand new distributor! The car also has euro tail lights and a sport muffler too. (very loud sport muffler) LOL. The poor dude had just put four brand new Maragoni tires on it and he was trying desperately to find some used tires to stick on it. I just showed up with a set of wheels and tires and drove it home. The owner promised to drop off the wheels one he gets the tires off. I think he actually will. :D The wheels are the cool five spoke aluminum 15" Mazda ones. Once I have what I need from it I am going to part it out. I will give you guys first crack at it

The thing that started this whole obsession for me was picking up my '93 GS in showroom condition for $2000. I took it apart, looking for damage rust, or even any kind of wear. The only thing there was, was a little wear on the brake pedal. It was a 1 owner trade in from the dealer's wife, and runs strong. They wanted over $4,000.

Damnit Dali, you gonna share some of that score? Haven't seen you for awhile. You are the guy I who tried to buy my MX-3 before I got it running, right?

I got my KLZE swapped RS (yes RS, I'm pretty sure the guy gutted a GS parts car to put it all together though) for $600. Of course it still needs some work, but it's damn near roadworthy right now.

If you're talking about the dusty blue MX3 then yes, except I found it on kijiji. The guy originally wanted $750. And it's in much better shape than I thought it would be, the seller barely knew anything about cars so I'm guessing he thought it had some serious problems. He bought it from somebody else and didn't even transfer the ownership to himself yet.

I put close to $300 into it and it's practically road worthy. (That includes the usual used car buy list, including a battery)
