Any opinions on these wheels?

Post by bluechro »

I'm looking at picking up a set of these for my MX-3.. Right now it's the original red paint but I'm looking at getting it painted black. These are cheeeap. And I really like the look of them. Let me know what you think.

I think those would look great on a black mx... as long as you have a GS lip. for some reason, I don't like rims on a mx3 without either a body kit or at least a GS lip

what size are they? if you are only going for looks then that's cool but if you are trying to increase performance, the weight of the wheel can really make a difference as well...

I'll get around the photoshopping them hopefully sometime soon.. They're 17s. I'm not looking for crazy performance but if this is going to hurt it then I might have to reconsider. They're 21 lbs a piece. Anybody know what the stock wheel weight is?

Stock rims are pretty light I believe aren't they around 18lbs ? I personally don't like the looks of them but to each their own , good luck on whatever you decide on ,
If you need tuner lugs with the rims , I suggest you invest in a good set , there is nothing worse than trying to get a stripped inverted lug out , and most likely bashing up a rim in the process.

Is a 3lb gain going to make a noticiable difference in performance?

Thanks for the tips with the lugs.

Anybody else have an opinion?

Like the wheels would look good,
but remeber,
your going to make your car slower,
and your spedo will be off.

Well it wont necessarily make the car slower , and it won't necessarily change the speed , if you keep the same total diameter tire/rim combo your speedo wont be off.
And your not going to make the car slower , just maybe take away acceleration , by changing the rotational mass out towards the edges more .

When someone says something will make a car slower, 9 times out of 10 they mean it will hurt your acceleration. And yes, 21 lb 17 in rims will be really really noticeable.

Alright thanks.. Guess we'll be holding out to find a decent candidate for a KLZE swap before we go about throwing new rims on. Probably should have figured that one out from the beginning.
