Miata/MX3 Clutch Compatability

Post by stephen-mx3 »

Hi Guys,

Was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the miata clutch (well, an aftermarket miata clutch!) will fit on a 1.6 DOHC MX3?

Any help appreciated!

Why don't you just get a performance clutch for the MX-3? I got an ACT on mine for about a year and still grips hard! And no, the miata clutch set up is different. The spline count on the disc is different and the pressure plate is different also. If you want a light weight flywheel, You can get one from a 1.6L miata, but you have to use the miata pressure plate and the MX-3 disc.

i saw it already.

i just had conflicting responses.

One person said it would go on with the mx3 pressure plate, and the other (boris) said it would ONLY go on with the Miata one.

And considering Boris's one is a SOHC and mine is a DOHC, and i dont know a huge amount about the drivetrain, just the basics, i want another opinion, thats all

its the same i had a BP with a 1.6 miata flywheel, pressure plate, MX-3 clutch disc and on the sohc and dohc trans.(keep breaking the diff in these weak transmissions) . i don't see what makes the two trans any different...

and flywheel too the flywheel bolt patterns are the same but the clutch bolt patterns are different..

hence why u can't use a miata flywheel with a MX-3 pressure plate and vice versa
