2nd gear ratio improvement???

Post by Ice Racing »

I'm looking for some input to make my second gear taller (meaning i could stay in 2nd longer).

Couple of things you should know before replying to this: the car is a GS 92 with G5M-R and LSD with KLZE and only use for ice racing with special 13 inch special studded tire (overhaul diameter almost like a regular 14")

The reason i would like to change that ratio is because most of the track we're running on have short straight line but a little to long to stay in 2nd so i have to shift third than back to 2nd almost at the same time...

Any suggestion??? Do you know about possible gear swap,...

The only think I know you can do it go to an Mx-6 gearbox, it's geared longer, 4.11:1 as opposed to the mx-3's 4.38:1. The 626 I believe is the same, but not the Probe, the Ford Probe has the same 4.38:1 as the Mx-3
