i got told it was a map sensor...
its a lillte box about the size of a wedding ring case...and it is mounted on the firewall directly behind the throttle body...it has 2 hoses...one goes to the throttle body and the other comes from a coffee can looking thing on the left side of the motor...then there is a few wires that plug into the right side of this sensor...
i was told that this "map sensor" controls the fuel/air ratio...
someone please help me figure out what this thing is...
thanks-ryan

Yes it is called (canister) purge solenoid valve - your best bet would be the dealer or get an used on from a member here or on ebay.

This is an EGR solenoid on ebay -

I dont remember if it looks the same as the purge solenoid - the only difference (if there are any) would be the electrical connector. So it can be made to fit with some wire splicing (if the connector doesnt fit).

mine is cracked and one of the nipples is broke off...it is for the hose that goes to the canister...so the one hoses isnt hooked up...can i take it off and just connect the hose from the canister to the hose o the throttle body just for now...or just leave it like that until i get a new one???
