Guys:

I have one very quick question for you as it relates to the MSD ignition - how do I connect an external coil (specifically, the MSD Blaster SS Coil) to my distributor cap (FYI - I have a B6DE engine)? My apologies if this is a rookie question...

As you likely know, the stock cap for a B6DE (or a Borg Warner replacement for that matter) only has terminals on top for the four spark plug wires (and nothing to connect an external coil wire to)...

Many thanks.

Search around, there are write ups on how manually to add a 7th or in your 4cyl case a 5th pillar.

Or you can buy them....Cork Sports IIRC.

if you cant find anything on here, try Probetalk.

Thanks Spinkx79. I searched around this site and the Net, but got the best information from MSD directly (their tech line is excellent and so are the MSD forums).

For those of you interested in instructions on how to convert your B6DE cap to 'accept' an external coil, please refer to the following http://www.clubprotege.com/wil/howto/hei/index.htm Skip the stuff on the HEI mod (although I must say that it is interesting) and look at how the cap was adapted. It is a got to do if you are going to run an MSD or aftermarket ignition on the B6DE.

FYI - I bought the Adapter Towers product from MSD (PN 8405) http://www.msdignition.com/sci_10.htm Perfect solution. Yep, you can only buy the towers in pack of 8 (cost me about $100 Cdn) - guess the extras will come in handy next time I need to replace my disty cap...

FYI (x2) - For anyone running the 2.5L engine, there is an cap for sale that has been adapted for use with an external coil http://www.prdonline.com/catalog/produc ... ucts_id=28

Hope this is of assistance to others in need of this info.

Take care.
