exhaust

Post by azazel95 »

I'm looking for a direct bolt-on cat-back system that has a smooth deep tone. Any links?

I have the Double Wall Angle Cut muffler. Very good deep sound, kinda like a purrrr. Not the normal ricey high sound.

Yeah I'm trying to avoid rice. Thanks for the link.

As for the cat-back, I found one at http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/perform ... st_Systems

Looks pretty good and I like the muffler on it too. Anyone use this system and can give some feedback?

Also, will an exhaust for early model fit late model (like a 92 exhaust fit a 95)?

I think the monza catback is for GS model - in my personal experience the resonator assembly (midpipe to muffler) from the GS is very close to RS but wont fit without some extra bending and possibly some modifications. Also 92 is a SOHC - so it probably wont fit the the DOHC models either. But i think the mufflers will fit on all models. Again the muffler flange for DOHC is different than the GS.

EDIT: You might want to consider doing a custom exhaust with the RS resonator (deep tone) and a performance muffler...

So to avoid rice your going cheap?

A local guy had this... his rusted out in a year, but that was a few years ago.

Just because ricers abuse their exhausts, doesnt mean if you have a muffler like that your rice.

I meant the rice tone. I want to avoid loud and whiney. I hate it when I hear cars that sound like wind-up toys.

And as for cheap, I didn't notice, that was just one of the few I have found.

Would it be a waste of money to get a cat-back system over just a muffler? I don't race or anything, so I'm not looking to gain a lot of hp from the exhaust, mostly just tone. No WWWHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA, ERWHAAAAAAAAAAA, REWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ya know.

You're not going to gain all that much from a cat back. If want to maximize your exhaust then I’d get a full setup. Don't just get a "queef" tube/fart can and call it good. If you're going to get anything get a cat back with a nice muffler.

If you look at my car domain I have some pics of my exhaust. I got a cat back at first and it cost me something like 110 bucks installed. I recently got a full exhaust with the same muffler and you can feel the difference. I didn’t have to buy the parts online. I just took it to a local muffler place and they did it all for real cheap and they did all the piping themselves.
