So My car is totaled
So My car is totaled
so i just totaled my car. very scary being in my first accident. was going like 65 and allofa suddent the road make a 90 degree turn and it was over with. slammed on my brakes and car went sliding over 2 embankments and onto the freeway. luckely it was at like 11:30 at night and i didnt hit anyone. car ended up 2 lanes into the freeway and stopped. The whole front axle was compleatly broke and the front frame was bent. So from inital estimates it would cost around 5k to fix includin all 4 rims and tires that were dented/poped. Well that is all for me for the mx for a while untill i find a new baby. I want to thank everyone for all the help and advice through the good times and the bad.

Sorry to here it. Don't go buy the quotes. Depending on how bad the frame damage is you could easily fix it if you need a car to drive.
My friend wrecked his mx3 and got a quote for 6k. He rearended another car and smashed his bumper, hood, core support, radiator. Tweaked the frame only slightly (I have yet to take measurements).
Anyway I bought the car off him for $100 bucks. Bought new radiator (50), headlights (50), beat out the hood and core support, used brackets for bumper (3) and am driving it now. I am still searching for new hood and bumper in same color (blue) but can't find em.
Well my point is, you maybe able to fix the car if you go junkyard parts. Quotes give you all new parts and labor isn't cheap.
Next car I would suggest to find an empty mall parking lot in rain and practice high speed stops / manuevers. Stay away from parking lamps though.
Do you have any pics?
Good luck

I am curious how you failed to see a "90 degree turn". I'm lead to assume the turn must have been blind with there being an elevation change and no signs?
Definitely good you're well. Makes me feel more safe in my car. Yea, don't pay 5k for your fixed MX3. You could buy a blown engine mx3 and swap in a badass ZE with that money. Or, you could use your car as parts car and buy another blown engine mx3.

though you may be right.. you could also easily be very wrong. Lets not jump to such certain conclusions until he spills his story.quicksliver wrote:...it's obvious that he was speeding. That's why he didn't have time to react when he saw the 90 degree turn last second.
I remember once I almost lost control going 60KMH on the highway in a thick fog... it all depends on road conditions.
Sorry to hear about your car man.. BUt again Im glad to hear you walked away ok. It coulda been a lot worse.

bad deal man..at the very least your ok...no broken bones or bruises/cuts...
you'll probably want another mx-3...don't, not for a while at least...
get a beater to carry you around the city (a slow one), and save your cash...
if the frame damage was from the back you probably could manage to fix her without breaking the bank. this is frontal damage so it changes things... save your money,
PS. Don't speed in areas you've never been in. you know where the road leads in places you've been before...a 90 degree turn doesn't just show up...
good luck

Ok so its been a couple of days and im sore as hell. I wrote the post the night of my accident like 2 hours after it happend so I wasent able to give full details of what happened. I was going down a road I didnt know going like 65mph (first mistake) then I apparently missed the sign for the freeway onramp because ther was another car next to me. (no I wasnt racing) When in the distance I saw the corner and I slammed on my brakes (2nd mistake) should have downshifted and got on brakes slowly. So the brakes locked up and I started to slide. Hit first curb and apparently got some air because the guy behind me said he was able to see my hood when I hit. Then I hit the second curb and went across a one lane off ramp. hit third curb and slid down embankment and ended up two lanes into the freeway. Luckley when I shot out it was like a five second gap inbetween when I stopped and the first car appeared. All 4 tires were dented/flat. When i went to the junk yard to look at in the day time I saw that i broke the whole front axle bent the frame in the front pretty bad. Broke the two front struts and ripped open my whole exaust system. So I hope that clears anyting up. I took a couple pics but on camera phone so not very good. Thanks for all the support.
