Red Tailights

Post by solo_ryder »

Hi, I've noticed some people have all red taillights. I think this looks pretty cool and I was wondering how they did it or did they purchase it? I just lost my license  so I got three months to do things to my car, I was just interested in these taillights is all, any help would be great thx.

Sand tail lights lightly with 220 grit sandpaper.

Go to hobby store/ Model shop and buy transparent red tail light paint for models.

I bought mine is a spray can.

Spray 2 light coats evenly over the tail light.

Go back to store, buy some automotive clearcoat. (or you can be smart and buy this while you are out the first time... LOL)

Spray 3 coats of clearcoat over the transparent red paint.

Let dry overnight and then install!

ya i guess it would be hella important to do clear on the outside, I might just do that cause i dont wanna take the light apart..so does anyone recommend sanding the outside down? what grit should I use? I am also leaving my reverse light clear so I am gonna tape it up..

Same principle for the stock tail lights... just mask off the reverse light.

I actually did this to my stock ones back in 2000.

As far as what grit sand paper-- I said that in one of the posts above.

Why would you spend all that money, and paint them to look like stock tails??

Just because they are red like the stock tail lights, doesnt mean that they look like them.

They look very different if you actually look at them.
