hey that's cool, i have no problem w/ that... i mean, i personally don't love CF, but i don't hate it either... i could just take it or leave it... but don't mind me, just keep on rockin' in the free world... i guess everyone has their likes/dislikes... that's what makes each car unique... and i'm glad that is the way it is... it'd get really boring looking at the same mx-3 the every time :)

oh yea, and what some one else mentioned before about not having to paint it is a good plus too...

true true^
but i have a friend that wants to get one and paint it the same color as his car (light weight but staying stealthy).. they're also suposed to help keep the engine cool because they "breathe", but i dont see how, unless you have a vented hood. :P

I did it just for the looks. It does turn a lot of heads, and it dosent look OTT on a dark car.

Oh and the fact that I have the only one in the UK was a cool thing to brag about.

but each to there own.

I think the C/F hoods are damn ugly, specially when the car isn't black or a dark colour. I see cars all the time with black painted hoods and the odd actual C/F hood on bright colours....UGLY. Its looks like your hood got wrecked and all that you could find was one in the junkyard that isn't the same color. Around here it's hard to tell if the person is ricing or just can't afford to paint there hood.
And stop it with saying they weigh less... 30 pounds, big deal. I saw some guy in a civic with a C/F hood and his fat girlfriend beside him...just tell her to lose 30 pounds and he saves having to buy a new hood and saves money on food. Bonus!

Mine is purely asthetics! ANd the fact that at the time it was only $10 more than an OEM from Mazda. :)

With my graphite grey metallic pearl paint job and my CF hood.....*Drools* Picture this....On a bright sunny day NOTHING turns heads faster than the flash of my paint and hood as they both bend to a blinding shine of silver then back to an almost black as I pass by. It's f'in absolute hotness :)

sam... i think the reason cf breathes easier than metal is because the matierial is less dense... so air is able to slip through it unlike metal... also maybe heat is able to dissapate through carbon fiber better than metal... i've noticed that snow / ice melts faster on my cf hood than the metal hood... so it seems likely that the engine bay stay's cooler and the heat escapes through the hood
