It's time for Mazda in the Mountains again and it will be (EDIT) in Bow Valley, Alberta, Canada). The date chosen is Sunday, August 28th, 2005 - 2:00pm. The exact location in Bow Valley is "Whitefish". Check the map on the MITM page for details.
Spread the word around and if you would like to check the MITM event page click here!
We will be meeting at Canada Olympic Park at 12:45pm on Sunday before leaving the city. There will also be other Mazda Clubs using this location as a pre-trip meeting place so there will be a fair sized convoy of Mazdas going to Bow Valley. The drive to Bow Valley will probably be around 30 - 45mins of Mountain Highway driving. Once in the Bow Valley area, we'll be stopping at the Whitefish location for Mazda in the Mountains. Afterwards, the Protege Club is planning a Cruise for after the meet. Anyone wanting to join them is more than welcome to. There are also nearby hiking trails for any of our woodland adventurers.
See you all there!!!

Yeah hopefully. The weather wasn't too bad once we got to Canmore. It was nice in sunny there.
So far there has been great response from the Protege and RX7 clubs. The RX8 group hasn't said much yet but I'm sure they will eventually. The Rockies Miata club has been notified too. They'll probably out number us just like they did at the MX-Series event last year.
Sounds good. Please take note that the date has changed to the 28th of August. There was some other big event on that weekend that would have prevented the Miata and RX7 clubs from coming. I hope this still works for everyone.

94 GS, Green Envy Pearl QUESTION: Does my car fit the RICE category?
We are currently in the process of finding a new location for this event. Seems like the Nordic Center will still be under renovations at that time. This location doesn't have to be Canmore but somewhere in that Mountainous area would be good. Another possible location is Johnston's Canyon but that area may be busy. There is a big preference to places that are free, especially since the Nordic center charges money to have our event there as well as requiring liability insurance. Location Changed to Bow Valley.

We'll be heading up to the Kananaskis area on April 17th to scout a new location. A few of us will meet up with the Protege club at Canada Olympic Park at Noon and depart at 12:15pm sharp. You can find more details on the scouting trip here.
How can we get the message out about this event. It's always more fun with more people. I know there are alot of people with these cars, done up or not, that don't know of us or any events.

I find that flyers on windows and having some posters at various Mazda dealerships work well. The only problem is that the location may likely change to Bow Valley. Lake Louise was too packed when people took a recent scouting trip. Many people said Louise was too far to drive. That's why Bow Valley is the more likely candidate. There are a few Mazda groups in the discussion.
Your right, Lake Louise becomes a sattelite district of Europe and the Orient over the summer months. I guess we'll just have to keep looking...it's only 5-6 weeks away.

According to that map, it looks like Whitefish is a stop on an interpretive hiking trail. Is there an actual driving route that will take us to the site, or is that what that thinner black line winding all over the place is about??
