I would have THEM come and tow it. Dont drive it (even if you can), it gives them excuse to come back and say you have been driving around with no fluid and its your fault. Call them and tell them its not driveable, you're not a mechanic, you dont have a tow truck, and they need to come and get it.

UPDATE

Well the car has been sat on my drive over the winter (the dealer wouldnt fix it). So im looking to do something with the car. At the moment my options are:

1. Sell the car as is (will probably loose a lot of money)

2. Fix the Auto tranny and sell the car (dont want another auto)

3. Convert it to Manual.

What do you guy think is the best option?

Does any one in the UK have any contacts for auto box specialists?

How come they wouldn't fix it?
You're gonna lose out whatever you do, if you want to keep the car then swap, if you want to sell it, fix it first, you'll lose big time selling a broken car otherwise
Kinda sucks really! :crying:

they said they sold it to me as a trade sale (they said they sold it to me at trade price) and so it didnt come with a warranty.

How much work is involved in the swap? and how much for parts?

Is there such a thing as a quick fix? i may just trade the car in (the rx-8 is soooo tempting)

Well if you want to really keep the mx-3..I'd say just do the MTX swap. Should definatley be cheaper than rebuilding the ATX. Even if you have a shop do the labor and all for you the price should still be a bit lower. It also depends on how trashed your ATX is. And the RX-8 is a pretty nice car by the way. You just have to get used to the lack of low end torque. If your set on trading it back in. Find yourself an RX-7 thats in decent shape. At least thats my humble opinion.

Oh yeah, and as to the price for doing the auto to manual swap. That can depends on about a million different things. I think the average I've heard is anywhere from 600 to 1000 bucks U.S.D. But I could be wrong about that. It's all a matter of where you get your parts from really.

found a local auto specialist, he has taken the car away to see what the problem is... he checked the clour of what fluid was left in the tranny and thought it may be the Torque convertor, He carried out a full rebuild on a mx-6 a couple of days earlier and charged £1500 for it... hope it doesnt need a full rebuild, the car is only worth about £2500

the garage foned me today to tell me the box is totaled, they have quoted me £1275+TAX inc fitting, they have also said it need a new oil cooler, £200.

Is it worth spending this sort of money on a 1993 car?
