Gauging interest for Nylatron shims for coilovers

Post by 2.5mx3 »

Hey guys,

I posted this in another thread, but I think it got lost there. For those with GC coilovers (or similar types), I'm proposing a possible group buy for SRD-machined shims that would cut down and/or eliminate the noise associated with this setup. Those who have them know what I mean: the "clunking" sound that occurs when the steel spring hits the aluminum perch during turns and on bumpy ground. For more info on this issue, please click here:
http://www.mx3gsr.freeservers.com/gc.htm

Luc told me that if there's enough interest, SRD could possibly machine these shims for us. Any interest here? Please post if you'd like to see them, thanks!

Yeah, I'm kinda annoyed too that my coilovers make so much noise. I was considering going back to regular springs if I couldn't solve the problem. But hopefully they'll be enough interest here to to get something going.

Thanks for the reply. :)

Alright! Sounds like we have some interest here. I'll email Luc and see what he says. Thanks for the replies, guys... I'll post when I get some more info.

In the meantime, anyone else interested?

Update:

I got an email from Luc yesterday, and he says he'd prefer to get 10 people interested... but he is going ahead with the project! He will be out of town until Monday, but when he gets back he'll check with his machine shop to get a price and estimated tooling time. I have also put a post on probetalk, with at least one other interested person so far.

Stay tuned!

Just wanted to bump this up for anyone else who missed this thread, and to let you all know that Luc should be getting back to me soon with a price for these shims.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks...

Luc has yet to get back to me, but he told me a few days ago that he was working on it. So... I'll let everyone know as soon as I hear something.

Thanks!

goodie, its so awful with the banging.... a friend of mine drove my car the other day (ive never heard my car (driving) from the outside before) and yeah he took a speed bump a bit harder than he shoulda, and MY GOD the bang that happened was REDICULOUS. From then on I've been damn near ashamed to drive my car where theres people :/ heheh...but im sure many of you know exactly what i mean.
