what rim size should I get?

Post by Ryencool »

im torn between looks and performance, I have eibach springs and zx2 struts so its lowered a little..Im not sure what to grab some 15 16 or go for looks with 17's. Im more of a performance type person so im leaning twards the 15's and 16's but would 15's be too small? I want somthing in gunmetal or flat balck, maybe some rotas...any ideas of suggestions?
Image
[ April 25, 2003: Message edited by: Ryencool ]

If you get 15, your just wasting your money, get 16 at least or 17's look sweet. I noticed very little ride quality difference when I went to 17.

I like 15 x 7s...

Good tire selection, cheap, light, looks good IMO, doesn't attract a ton of attention, not as likely to be stolen...

Get some light 17's. If not, then at least get some 16's. 15's look stupid. It's not like your going to be racing all over the place anyways, 17's would be just fine.

well im still stuck on 15's or 16's, one because of the wieght issue amd two because anythign over 16 is negating performace and looks bad on the mx3 i think..everyones got there opinion and mine is based on performance ;) heh...sts got any brand you like? im liking rotas but want to find a good deal, and there goin for 475 shipped, not to bad but can i do better?

I got 17" rims on my car and I did not notice any significant performance/gas mileage drop. Go for a set of 17's.

Rota, Kosei K1s, and Konig Heliums are some of the cheaper 15 x 7 choices. Go wide if you can. It's worth the extra weight.
If you've got money, SSR makes some badass wheels, under 10 lbs too.
I like 15"s. I don't care if you think they look stupid, because if that's your basis for choosing a wheel size, then YOU are stupid  (general statement, NOT directed at anyone)

yeah people just go for looks, and at one point i was like that. but when you think about it, drage races and rally races can be one by milliseconds, if that means making my tire smaller and wider, for better accell and more patch to the pavement im all for it.
Albiet I dont drag race or rally race competitively, I want my car set up so if I decide to run some SOLO races or sotmhign I can, plus it will just perform better..
Thanks STS, your the ****, when your not being mean haha

def' put some 20's or bigger on it would only ad about a million pounds but at least the same in horse. jokes, id put on some enkei RPM2 at a 17 inch size and 7.5 width as they are only 7.7kg or for u americans 17lbs. i believe the stock 15's are around 18 lbs and the 17's look sweeeeeeeeet.

16x7 rota slipstreams (spoon sw-388 replicas) weigh 13.5lbs. They come in silver bronze and black.
Image

i dont think you can do that withough messing your speedo and maybe yoru tranny if your auto
the total circumpherence/dimention (depending on what you measure) must equal the same circumpherence/dimention as what is stock, lerger rim, smaller tire
